Preparing for big rumor time: Help needed from readers and site owners :)

There is going to be a big Rumor time soon. As “boring” as Photokina was as “exciting” the time will become soon right before the next January-February announcement. One thing I noticed this year is that many sites pick up my news and “forget” or “not properly” cite me as source. I am not going to be mad with anyone here but it’s important for me to get some credit back. Don’t forget this is a an amateurish site and there is no big company financing me like they it happens on other “official” photo sites. So it’s important for me to survive with the only push of my readers. I kindly ask you to help me by following those rules and tips:

For website owners reposting my news:

1) You are absolutely free to take news from me…also images! But please credit me for that.

2) Please do not write “SAR” as source but “SonyAlphaRumors.com“. Also kind would be to not “hide” the backlink with bad visible color (light grey on white background as someone does), or by writing “anonymous source” instead of my site’s name. Thanks!

3) Often I post news about external reviews and news not original from this site. But it would be nice to write “found via SonyAlphaRumors.com” if you find the news through my site. Like for example deals, reviews or news. Thanks!

4) The rules also apply to myself and if I do a mistake please contact me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Please note that most of the news I post I receive from my readers and they sometimes forget to mention the proper sources. Excuse me in advance if the main sources is not mentioned or wrong. It’s sometimes impossible for me to track who wrote what first.

I noticed that “less” famous site have more followers than me. This is because they either pay to get followers or because they get pushed by official companies (like when they write a good review about a certain company camera). I do not get that kind fo support and have to do all for myself. Therefore if you can and want please help me to increase my social fellowship

New Zeiss 16-35mm FE review by Brian Matiash.

Brian Matiash from Photofocus (Click here) reviewed the new 16-35mm f/4.0 FE Zeiss lens:

Images produced with this lens are very sharp and consistent with minimal softness in the corners. I also didn’t notice any chromatic aberration with photos taken at locations with very high dynamic ranges…As far as I’m concerned, this is a Must-Have lens for all of the Sony A7 shooters out there.

Big 4K tests: Sony A7s outperforms the GH4!

Enrique Pacheco tested the 4K performance of the Sony A7s and the Panasonic GH4. And in terms of both dynamic range and resolution the A7s outclasses the main competitor:

The image on top shows the difference in dynamic range. Enrique writes: “Sony A7s vs Panasonic GH4 in CINE4 mode. Pro ISO 200 the difference of detail in highlights from heaven speaks for itself.“

And this is the resolution comparison: “Compared to the Lumix GH4, which has always been known camera with good resolution, the Sony A7s seems to deliver a clearer, sharper picture, you could say that with increased microcontraste or acutance if you’re like us, having grown up with analogue. But we must also note that although the image appear sharper the A7s, actually both seem to achieve the same level of detail.“

And Enriques further test also show the A7s has less moiré and less color aliasing. The GH4 advantage is far less rolling shutter (not tested by Enrique but seen in other comparisons) and the GH4 is cheaper and records 4K internally.

Meike A7/r/s vertical grip to be sold from October 20.

I got word the 80 Euro “cheap” Meike A7/r/s vertical grip will go on sale on October 20. It’s likely they will sell those through eBay like they are doing now for their water housings and adapters for Sony (Click here).

Not joking: There is a brand new Sony NEX(!) camera nobody told you about (and it’s in Stock now).

One year ago Sony officially killed the “NEX” brand name and unified the A and E-mount line under one single “Alpha” brand. We all know that created quite some confusion. Sony Manager Shigeki Ishizuka even said recently said “they are fully compatible with one another using adapters.” (Source Dpreview). Try to attach an E-mount lens on an A-mount camera and you will agree Ishizuka statement has quite some faults in it

Anyway, there is another weird thing we completely missed to report about. In August Sony announced their last new….NEX camera! It’s actually a new camcorder, the Sony NEX-EA50M. It uses the same sensor as the predecessor but has a different lens and updated firmware. It’s in Stock now for the first time at Amazon (Click here) and Adorama (Click here).

Maybe the camcorder division still haven’t got the note from their managers that the “NEX” brand name is dead?
