DxO tests the Zeiss Distagon FE lens ans writes it’s a “Razor-sharp German precision”.

DxOmark (Click here) published the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon FE lens test results and writes:

With excellent optical construction, including three aspherical elements, it’s a pretty hefty lens, however, that measures 112mm in length and weighs 630g. If you’re looking for top-quality low-light shooting, you’ll need all that heavy glass, however, and it helps the FE 35mm f1.4 deliver some excellent results.
Achieving a high DxOMark score of 38 points, the FE 35mm f1.4’s performance is excellent and ranks as the second best FE-mount lens we’ve tested. Sharpness and Transmission results are particularly strong, and with decent results in the other Lens Metric categories, it’s an impressive all-round excellent performance from the FE 35mm f1.4.[/shoplink]

The 55mm FE is still the king of sharpness. Looking at the score comparison I am actually surprised to see how good the much more compact FE 35mm f/2.8 lens is. A nice little (still bit overpriced) gem :)

The Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon FE is in Stock here:
in USA at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto.
in Europe at Sony Germany, Sony UK, Sony FR, Sony IT, Sony ES, Sony NL, Sony BE, Sony AT, Sony CH, Sony SE, Sony FI, Sony NO, Sony PT.
in Asia/Australia at Digitalrev, Sony Australia.

Kai from Digitalrev reviews the Zeiss FE Loxia and loves them!

Zeiss Loxia 35mm & 50mm f/2 Hands-on Review

We are used to see Kai from Digitalrev to throw also very harsh critics on the stuff he tests. But the Zeiss Loxia lenses are so close to perfection that Kai really loves them!

And so do Sony camera owners because right now only limited numbers of Loxias are in Stock even after so many months. In USA there is only one 50mm Loxia in Stock at Amazon (Click here) and one 35mm Loxia again via Amazon (Click here).

In Europe and Asia the Loxias can be found in Stock via eBay sellers (Click here) and Digitalrev (Click here).

Thanks Joe!

NAB 2015: EXCLUSIVE! Carl Zeiss Announces Batis AutoFocus Lenses
from Clint Milby on Vimeo.

HDSLRshooter posted that Zeiss interview about the new Batis lenses. Some key info:

1min10sec: Sony is moving from APS-C to FF.
1min20sec: Loxia have been really well received. We cannot keep them in Stock right now.
2min40sec: 85mm Batis is designed to match the 55mm FE. It has fantastic image quality.

Zeiss makes it clear that Sony’s focus right now is on Full Frame. But certainly they didn’t mean APS-C is done :) The A6100 will be announced soon and I expect it to be a great camera. But I hope Sony will soon release some proper E-mount APS-C lenses too.

Both lenses are now available for preorder in USA and Europe (UK/Germany)

First full 90mm FE macro lens review at Fengniao and Digitalkamera (with full size image samples).

90mmFE

Fengniao (google translation here) posted the first full Sony 90mm G OSS macro lens review. The great looking full size image samples can be found here on page 6 and page 7.

– Super resolution straight from the max aperture
– Small vignetting at f/2.8
– Well controlled distortion
– very nice bokeh
– excellent optical stabilization
– the only real drawback is the big size of the lens

The Macro 90/2,8 OSS also got tested on digitalkamera.de. They write: image quality is outstanding, extraordinarily sharp from center to corner, “worth every cent”. (thx Florian for sending this).

The 90mm lens will ship from July 7 at those stores:
In USA at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto.
In Europe at Sony Germany, Sony UK, Sony FR, Sony IT, Sony ES, Sony NL, Sony BE, Sony AT, Sony CH, Sony SE, Sony FI, Sony NO, Sony PT.
In Asia at Digitalrev, Sony Australia.

Mattia Abe Abeni:A7s in APS-C Mode can still produce some very beautiful looking images. This was all shot in a few hours and with the 18-105 G that makes it a wonderful run-and-gun lens with it’s zoom range. The OSS also works like a charm and AF too. 60fps helped of course :) http://ift.tt/1dvikfx
