(SR3) Two new FE cameras coming?

Back in March a trusted source told me two things:
1) The A7rII is already in production and will likely ship in June (article here).
2) Sony has also second 50MP camera model in the works (article here).

And right now I just got that directly from another Sony “insider” anonymous source:

We heard from our rep yesterday that there would be two new ff cameras announced both a7rmkii and a8?! He seemed to think that the a7rii would be as the a7ii, just better erg and is. The a8 is apparently the high MP 50+ body.

First of all thanks to the anonymous source! And damn, let’s hope this one now becomes real just like the SR3 Batis lens rumor we posted in January

Sony Alpha – Mirrorless 60″ Commercial

I have been told that tomorrow Sony Australia meeting is a “sneak preview” of Sony products. It’s still unclear if Sony will announce a new camera within the next 24 hours. But if it’s not than we will definitely see them next week.

Sony lately is known for playing a lot of cat and mouse game on the real announcement date. The new FE lenses example were shown at CP+ but pricing was announced 10 days later. That said it’s pretty clear what Sony want to launch in May-June: New A6100, A7rII and new RX cameras.

A tidbit: The commercial video you see above is running on Australian TV’s this week.

Anonymous: “This wasnt reported at the time but there was an interview at dc home a few months ago which i think would be an interesting discussion. In the interview the interviewer asked about the A77II AF module in the LA-EA6. The Sony engineer says the size of the module is a problem for an adapter. It would be an interesting discussion around would the readers accept a larger bump in the LA-EA4 to get better AF?

It’s a problem whether it’s put in the size which can permit that as a mount adapter and after all whether the usual type phase contrast AF system by translucent mirror technology is a good one or, is a system using image face phase contrast AF good? The place where I’d like to reduce what kind of merit there is to a customer and think as technological directionality.
