Rumor about something else: iPhone 6 will feature new Sony’s Exmor IMX220 camera sensor.

Image of the EXmor IMX220 sensor. Source: Alibaba.

Sony is the worldwide leader of the camera sensor market and therefore it will not be a surprise if the upcoming new iPhone 6 will use that brand new Sony sensor: a 13 Megapixel 1/2.3″ exmor sensor which is considerably larger than the iPhone 5s Sony 8 Megapixel 1/3.2” sensor.

Just a hint in the very deep future: Every week I do check Sony patents and I found many of “lytro alike” patents for different sensor size (latest patent can be read here). I am pretty sure one day an iPhone will use such a sensor!

Michael:Hi Andrea, Album @ Flickr http://ift.tt/1pmz2Mz.

It took me quit a while considering upgrade from the M2 to M3, and finally I did upgraded, here is my comparison before I let go the M2 to next owner.

M3 has wider zoom of 24mm (FF equiv.) comparing to M2 28mm, photo @ http://ift.tt/1pmz0nS

However M3′s 24mm (FF equiv.) is not as wide as in A6000, photo @ http://ift.tt/1t6zWDz

M3 has better control of CA at wide-open aperture f/1.8, photo @ http://ift.tt/1t6zWDB

Built-in ND filter is very useful for long exposure under day light, photo @ http://ift.tt/1pmz2ME

M3 still can zoom to 100mm or more by using the Clear-Image-Zoom (70mm x1.5 or x2.0), photo @ http://ift.tt/1t6zWTP

M3 does have longer lens throat 15mm vs 11mm by M2, photo @ http://ift.tt/1pmz0nW

M3 start up is faster

M3 time gap between shoot-to-shoot is faster

M3 auto-focus is faster

More testing I will do next is…

More comparison with A6000 & 16-50mm (24-70mm in FF equiv.) power zoom kit lens

Compare video quality with different codec

World’s fastes lens for Sony E-mount gets tested at DC.watch: Ibelux 40mm f/0.85.

If speed is what you are looking for and money stagnates in mas son your bank account than you will certainly be interested in getting the new Ibelux 40mm f/0.85 APS-C E-mount lens. It’s the fastest native E-mount lens and as some said here on SAR this lens may be able to shoot ghosts at night :)

The lens is now in Stock at Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). And will ship soon in Germany too at Technikdirekt.

And finally we have a first review of the lens posted by DC.watch (google translation here). They tested the X-mount version but results will be exactly the same on the E-mount version. This is what they say about the lens:

- lens quality is very high (made of metal and nice glossy painted black).

- smooth focus ring and very accurate. A bit weak click when using the aperture ring (sometimes you may don’t notice it and rotate further).

- sharpness is decent wide open and improves dramatically at f/2.8 towards.

- There is some fringe at wide aperture

- It has a “gentle” blur

- no major ghost or flare issue

Sounds good….but the price :(
