Sony PXW-FS7 Unboxing / Review / Test from 12FPS on Vimeo.

There is an E-mount camera we don’t talk a lot about here on SAR. But it’s a hell of a great camera: The 4K E-mount FS7 camcorder. There is a good news to report: Dan Chung from Newsshooter got word from Sony that they will fix the FS7 slow aperture response. Hope that fast way to fix stuff will be streamlined to all current Alpha cameras :)

The camcorder is also in Stock for the first time in US via Amazon third party resellers (Click here).

Jobe:B&H shipped the HVL-F32 flash yesterday. I thought it wasn’t due to ship until mid December so this might be an accident. Figured I’d shoot you a quick snap of the boxes: http://ift.tt/1BFKOwj

JJ Sereday:I am a professional who used to be a Canon DSLR user (5D Mark II, 7D etc.) but switched to Sony 2 years ago when Canon released the 5D Mark III. I was very disappointed with their upgrade which took over 4 years to come. From that moment I realized that Canon’s philosophy was to only implement advance technologies when the market demands it. I didn’t want to be with a company that become complacent.

So I switched to Sony, picked up an A99 and never looked back. By all means Sony is far from perfect and I do get frustrated with their customer service and communication. (Or lack of communication rather) But the gamble turned out to be a smart bet since Sony has been really pushing the market. I am now fully invested with just about all of the Amount full frame lenses an A99 and an A65. I also picked up the A7s since it is probably the best camera on the market in its class.

Sonys division between A mount and E mount is a little frustrating as well. Im more accepting of it since I can use all my Amount lenses with the Emount system but there are some caveats. Non the less – I will be riding it out and hoping for Sony to make some smart decisions.

One decision they made well was with the Sony FS7. They actually listened to their customers and gave them MANY of the features and ergonomics requesting. While it is on my TO GET list, I came across the contest Sony has to win one. (it actually may have been from your site). So I decided to work on a film Ive been too busy to work on and submit it.

The short film is called : In The Details. I shot some footage on a trip I took when I first got my A99 and told myself once I finished it I would send it your way since it was done entirely on Sony A99.

(SR2) Sony A9 specs (46 MP sensor and weather sealed body)

Share

Fake A9r rendering at SonyAlphaForum (post your dream A9 renderings there!).

All we know with 99% certainty is that Sony has a new FE FF camera on the pipeline which will be the first of its line and placed above the current A7 camera series. It’s likely to come during the first half of 2015. We have no specs from trusted sources so for once let’s share specs I got from an anonymous source. This means it’s hardly to be the real final specs but at least it’s a start to discuss the new camera:

– 46 Megapixel Bayer sensor

– 4 fps

– 100-32,000 ISO (extended 50 and 64,000)

– weather sealed body

– 4K output (no internal 4K recording)

– Price yet not final but around to $3,000
